Welcome to the University of Toronto and to our online community. This webspace gives you an overview of the university’s three campuses – St. George, Mississauga and Scarborough – and articulates many of the reasons why U of T is justly renowned nationally and internationally. There are stories about our nation-leading research enterprise, our remarkable students, and dedicated staff; there are stories about our colleges, federated Universities, libraries, clubs, and classes; there are stories about our schools, centres, and institutes; there are stories about our alumni. And that just scratches the surface.
Founded in 1827, the University of Toronto is very much like the Toronto region itself: it is a large, multicultural community with a huge number of opportunities and resources. Like Toronto, it is organized around neighbourhoods, where smaller gatherings of people come together to learn and think and work.
In our knowledge-based age, higher education and advanced research are essential to our collective prosperity and quality of life. Working with members of our constituencies and communities, U of T strives to make far-reaching and positive differences in the world – through the education of our students and through our pioneering research. These efforts have led to amazing stories, many of which are told in this webspace. I invite you to take a few minutes and browse through the remarkable array of information available here.
On behalf of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends I hope you enjoy and benefit from your visit to the University, whether it is through this website or in person.
